Makutkiriwan Hospital was established in 2011 as a small-sized hospital by Phra Yanadilok, the abbot of Wat Makutkiriwan. He granted 7 rai of land for the hospital in order to offer medical services for patients in Pongtalong Subdistrict so people do not have to travel to Pakchongnana Hospital which is located further away. Moreover, the hospital also received financial contribution from Mr. Keeree Kanjanapas, the Chairman of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited, and his acquaintances for the construction of the building. Later in 2018, Phra Yanadilok conferred Makutkiriwan Hospital on Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana to be under royal supervision as it provides healthcare for citizens, civil servants as well as royal servants in proximity of Tippimarn Palace.
