His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's commitment to national development, aimed at enhancing stability and improving the well-being of his people, aligns with the principles of sustainable development—particularly in ensuring equitable access to medical care. This vision led to the creation of the "Happy and Healthy Citizen Project by the Royal Medical Team," a collaborative initiative between the Crown Property Bureau and medical volunteers. Since its inception in 2022, the project has provided treatment to a total of 16,817 patients, addressing cataract and dental health issues.
From 7th - 9th January 2025, the Crown Property Bureau in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of Mahidol University (Ramathibodi Hospital), the Crown Prince Fund student volunteers, the Siam Commercial Bank PCL, SCB Foundation, the Siam Cement PCL, SCG Foundation and the Airports of Thailand PCL, organised the first round of the 2025 "Happy and Healthy Citizen Project by the Royal Medical Team" to offer equal and timely access to medical care for people in remote areas nationwide. The project successfully provided surgical treatment for 285 eye patients and dental services for 346 patients at Srihsangwan Hospital and the Mae Hong Son Provincial Prison in Mae Hong Son Province. On this occasion, the Governor of Mae Hong Son Province presided over the opening ceremony. Together with executives from the Crown Property Bureau, government organisations, and partner organisations, they distributed eyeglasses and relief supply bags provided by the Crown Property Bureau to patients.
Patients who received treatments were those of Lahu, Karen and Shan (Thai Yai) ethnic groups, as well as prisoners from Mae Hong Son Provincial Prison. The mobile medical unit helped reduce waiting time to receive treatment and ensure that people who otherwise cannot access medical care receive services in a fair and equitable manner, all at no cost.
Srihsangwan Hospital was graciously named by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in honour of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother. Upon its establishment, His Majesty generously provided personal funds as initial capital to develop and construct the hospital. Today, it offers medical services to the people of Mae Hong Son Province, those living in border areas with neighbouring countries, and refugees in resettlement centres.
